Dignity, Respect, and Safe Care Environment Policy

At Summit NeuroCare, we believe the best mental health care happens when people work together — with trust, respect, and a shared goal of helping you feel better.

Our Commitment

At Summit NeuroCare, we are committed to providing a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all patients, families, staff, and visitors.

We believe that every individual deserves to be treated with dignity, compassion, and respect, regardless of background, identity, or circumstance. This includes respect for differences in culture, language, beliefs, mental health conditions, and lived experience.

This commitment reflects both our professional obligations and the standards expected by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

What You Can Expect From Us

Patients and families can expect that:

  • You will be treated with courtesy, empathy, and professionalism

  • Your privacy and confidentiality will be respected at all times

  • Your care will be delivered in a non-judgmental and inclusive manner

  • Your concerns will be heard and addressed respectfully

  • Your safety—both physical and psychological—will be prioritized

What We Expect From Everyone

To maintain a safe and respectful environment, we ask that all individuals:

  • Treat staff, clinicians, and other patients with respect and courtesy

  • Refrain from abusive, aggressive, discriminatory, or threatening behaviour

  • Respect the privacy and dignity of others in the clinic environment

  • Follow clinic processes designed to support safe and efficient care

Behaviour that compromises safety or dignity may result in:

  • modification or termination of the interaction

  • rescheduling or discontinuation of services where appropriate

Zero Tolerance for Harassment or Abuse

Summit NeuroCare has a zero-tolerance policy for:

  • Verbal abuse, intimidation, or threats

  • Harassment or discrimination (including based on race, gender, religion, disability, or mental health status)

  • Physical aggression or unsafe behaviour

Such behaviour may lead to immediate termination of the visit and, where necessary, involvement of appropriate authorities.
